MP3 of the Day

Why THE PUSH KINGS didn't become as famous as The Killers I will never know. They were great musicians, they wrote catchy songs, and they had terrific style. Between 1995 and 1999 they released a handful of singles, and two (almost) perfect indie pop albums. Their second 7" is one of my all-time favorite singles. Today's song, Macy Macy , is from that 7" released on Sealed Fate Records in 1996.

Great song - Finian's recording genius has taken a backseat to his performances, which are swell!

Has anyone heard Matt Fishbeck's new band called: HOLY SHIT? I haven't and I'm curious.

Sean, please don't say you are CURIOUS. That word immediately conjures up a CAT, and I have allergies, or at least that's what I tell my friends when I don't want to hang out at their house. Hehe, No, not me, I never lie.

Yes, I haven't gotten round to my HULL webpage yet, the font project has been placed on hold, and my boat fetish is waning, BUT BOAT BOUGHT BUTT BUT.... the FAINnze (a rearranged genre from the now lost art 'fanzine') is running swimmingly to shore! I'll check back after I get the disk of my photos from Walgreen's.

In case anyone is CURIOUS, in addition to Holy Shit being the new Matt Fishbeck project it is also the new Ariel Pink project. They are in it together.

Because the Push Kings began to really suck before they broke up. I think alterna-crap is the word.

The third Push King's album 'Feel No Fade' was certainly a step down from their first two records. It was not as good. But, I will say that five or six of the songs on that album were actually pretty great! I still listen to a number of those songs. 'Feel No Fade' wasn't entirely bad.

But wasn't "Number Ones" a good time?

...Will the pop just melt away
On one bright day
When nothing goes his way?

That sounds like a left-handed compliment.
