Sorry Courtney!

I forgot to mention Courtney's AMAZING hand-decorated Rice Krispy treats!!! A plate of iPods and a plate of cassette tapes. They were truly a sight to behold. And aren't Rice Crispy treats Sean's favorite snack?

MP3 of the Day

A couple summers ago Tullycraft played a show on the rooftop of an art museum in downtown Stockholm, Sweden with THE ESSEX GREEN. It was pretty unforgettable. Today we have The Late Great Cassiopia from their album, The Long Goodbye.

Sweet treats

What's better than having delicious cookies brought to you in Chicago by the wonderful Mepissa?? A late night pig-out session in the hotel! YUM.

Ice Skating in Wisconsin

Beloit, the "Gateway to Wisconsin," has a lot to offer out-of-town visitors: a beautiful college campus, a rockin' Irish pub called Suds O'Hanahan (I'm not joking), and ice skating. I was delighted that the boys agreed to hit the public skate on Saturday afternoon, even though Sean had never skated before! He used a simple folding chair for balance, however, and blew us non-chair people out of the water (but the four-year-olds on the Beloit Blades hockey team still kicked our asses). The activity inspired Cori and I to insist on doing a new activity in each city we go to. I'm thinking mini golf, horseback riding or skeet shooting are next!

TULLYCRAFT TUESDAY

Today you can see a little of what we did this past weekend. In Wisconsin we went ice skating and it was my very first time! I was not very good. Thanks again to everyone who came out to the shows in Chicago and Beloit. Have a great day!

MP3 of the Day

We made it home safe from the mid-west blizzard! Against almost everyone's advice in Beloit, Wisconsin on Saturday night, we decided to try the drive to Chicago in some pretty bad conditions. It was a bit scary, but with Chris behind the wheel and Jeff navigating, we managed to make it to the airport and catch a flight home to Seattle. I'll have more about our whirl-wind two day trip to the mid-west tomorrow. I just wanted let everyone know that we're ok.
Today we have Sippy Cup by LAND OF THE LOOPS (aka Alan Sutherland) from the CD single released on Unhip Records in 2003.

MP3 of the Day

Today we have Unfair Kind Of Fame by Glasgow, Scotland's most influential indie pop band, THE PASTELS.

Hopefully, we will see some of you tonight in Chicago or tomorrow night in Beloit, Wisconsin. They will both be fun shows I'm sure!

MP3 of the Day

I guess you could say that this week has been leaning a bit new wave, so it only seems appropriate to post some MY FAVORITE. Today we have The Happiest Days Of My Life. My Favorite were early tour-mates of Tullycraft - playing to many disinterested crowds of twelve on the east coast. They were truly a great band.

MP3 of the Day

Today we have Alternate Ending by ARGO from their debut album, Attack Of The Firebots released in 2006.

Tuesday, February 20, 2007

TULLYCRAFT TUESDAY

Today we have THE NOBLE SALESMAN taking a stab at Mental Obsession . This Michigan outfit is the side project of Onett drummer, Donnie Hinshaw. You can find the Tullycraft version of this song on the album Old Traditions, New Standards. Hey, if you're in a band or know a band that covers a Tullycraft song, send it our way and we'll put it on the site!

MP3 of the Day

Not a lot of people realized that the song "Stowaway" from the last Tullycraft album Disenchanted Hearts Unite, was actually about the 80's band MISSING PERSONS. It's true. Today we have the song Destination Unknown from the band's debut album, Spring Session M released in 1982. Also, if you're interested here's the original "Destination Unknown" video.

MP3 of the Day

Today we have Dear Katy by the San Diego band, BOYISH CHARMS. This song is from their most recent album, Nothing Spectacular Awaits released on Asaurus Records.

MP3 of the Day

Today's song, I'll Arrest Myself didn't appear on any of the three proper albums released by the NEW BAD THINGS. Considering those records aren't the easiest to track down these days... this is a pretty obscure track. Maybe (slightly) less obscure is the painting titled "New Bad Things" by (former Tullycraft guitarist) Harold Hollingsworth.

TULLYCRAFT TUESDAY

Today we have a TULLYCRAFT rarity. Look How We Killed The Riot Grrrls was the b-side to our Josie 7" released on Wurlitzer Jukebox Records (in England only) more than a couple years back. It was also available on The Singles CD - a collection of compilation tracks and b-sides released on Darla Records.

Question Of The Week

MP3 of the Day

On this day in 1971, pitcher Leroy "Satchel" Paige became the first Negro League veteran to be nominated for the Baseball Hall of Fame. In August of that year, Paige, a pitching legend known for his fastball and showmanship, was inducted. Joe DiMaggio once called Paige "the best and fastest pitcher I've ever faced."
If a cloudy Friday has put you in an Elliot Smith mood? Well, today we have almost the next best thing: When I Am Gone by SPARROW HOUSE (aka Jared Van Fleet) from the EP, Falls.

Thursday, February 08, 2007

MP3 of the Day

Today we have Someday by the Brooklyn, New York duo, MATT & KIM from their self titled album.

MP3 of the Day

Today we have an early version of London Calling by THE CLASH. This was recorded during rehearsals in the summer of 1979, and was cut just weeks before the sessions with Guy Stevens at Wessex. Those sessions would eventually produce the critically acclaimed double album, London Calling. In addition to the lyrics being different, this version certainly lacks the energy of the one that would appear on the album. Being a huge Clash fan, I was excited to hear this song in its early stages. - Also, notice (in the above photo) a young Shane MacGowan of The Pogues, in the front row just below Mick Jones at a 1977 London gig.

Each Tuesday we try and feature a band (or artist) covering a Tullycraft song. Today we have a cover of Every Little Thing from the album, Disenchanted Hearts Unite, by the always awesome... RIVERTUBES! Hey, if you're in a band or know a band that covers a Tullycraft song, send it our way and we'll put it on the site!

Video of the Day

Today we have a video for the new APPLES IN STEREO single "Same Old Drag" from their soon to be released album New Magnetic Wonder. This video was shot while driving through the streets of Park City, Utah on their way to play the Film.com Launch party at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival.

MP3 of the Day

Very few bands wrote a one minute pop song better than GUIDED BY VOICES. Today we have Wondering Boy Poet from their 1996 Peel Session.
