stu-stu-studio!

Update: we're about to start overdubbing Chris & I's guitar tracks! All the basic drums and bass are in hand, so it's time to queal, strum, and chug, in that order. Jenny's obsessed with Project Runway, Jeff is totally wasted on Boone's Farm, and Sean is sleeping out back on an old matress.

In the Studio!

We're in the studio right now, with Kip Beelman, laying down drum and bass tracks for Georgette Plays A Goth and The Neutron, two new songs from the steady-rollin' new Tullycraft record! The legendary Jack Endino even popped in to ask Chris to move his van!

Little known fact: Ira Fell (Tullycraft drummer, Jeff Fell's dad) spent a short time in the legendary Colorado surf-rock band, THE ASTRONAUTS.Today's song was the band's 1963 single, Baja, from their album Surfin' With The Astronauts.

MP3 of the Day

THE BOONARAAAS are an all-girl band from Düsseldorf, Germany who deliver garage punk with a trashy 60's twist. They play on vintage equipment, and their live shows have a reputation for getting wildly out of control. Today we have the very sassy Hipshakin' Loving , from the LP, Go Get Goo Goo.

MP3 of the Day

Between 1989-93, one of my all-time favorite indie-pop bands WIMP FACTOR 14 released four 7" singles and one amazing album. Two years ago the band played a reunion show in Pittsburgh, PA., and put together a compilation CD that included all of their singles plus a few unreleased songs. The initial run sold out quickly, but there has been a second pressing! Today we have Botch, from this rarities CD titled, Bric-A-Brac. They are only $6! You can order your very own copy here. (note: I believe the free climbing monkeys may have sold-out with the first run)

Welcome Home Jenny!

Jenny (Tullycraft) is home from her vacation in England. She saw the sights and even got the chance to hang out with ROBBIE WILLIAMS. It's TOTALLY true! Apparently, he has a new single called Rudebox, that's giving Justin Timberlake's Sexyback, a run for it's money on the BBC charts. Since Robbie get's little, to no radio play on this side of the Atlantic, Jenny thought we should start this week off with his current UK Singles Chart hit. Welcome home Jenny! This one's for you.

Vampires at the Gates of Hell

It might be an overstatement to call the next Tullycraft album "much anticipated." Nevertheless, after working on new songs for what seems like forever, we are finally beginning the recording process. Next week we are going into the studio to start the initial tracking for what will be our next album. This is just the beginning of the process, and we tend to work a bit slow..... so stay tuned for updates.

THE MANHATTAN LOVE SUICIDES are the newest addition to the Magic Marker Records family. Born in Leeds, England in January 2006, their first album is scheduled for release in November. They play fuzzed up noisy pop that I might call a cross between The Jesus And Mary Chain and Pussycat Trash. Today's song, Things You've Never Done , is from their self titled debut. Have a great Friday!

Twinkie Size

MP3 of the Day

In recent years the lo-fi revolution has jumped from the four-track to Garageband. Long gone are the days when vocals were recorded on answering machines and tabletops doubled as drum-sets (i.e. Beat Happening's Three Tea Breakfast cassette). Seattle based, BABY I LOVE YOU (aka Roshan Gurusinghe) graciously carries the new lo-fi flag into battle, proving that great songs are still great songs, regardless of how they are captured. Today we have Community College Life , from the forthcoming EP, This Machine Repeats Itself. For more BABY I LOVE YOU recordings check out: Megafaunic Music.

Brick Factory

When I loaded Crayon's "Brick Factory" into my iTunes it couldn't find the art. So I searched google and guess what? Almost nothing at all. Just a few teeny-tiny jagged thumbnails.. useless! Talk about obscure. There were barely even any reviews of it! So I scanned the cover from my CD and loaded it in myself. Today's gift from me is a nice, celan JPG of that cover art, so that visually-minded Crayon fans like me can have it come up on their iTunes, or VIDEO iPod!! Enjoy.

My girlfriend Liz, introduced Tullycraft (all but Jenny, she's still in England) to THE TRUCKS before our practice a couple nights ago. They are an all girl four-piece from Bellingham, WA. Both Chris and Cori were singing this song for the first hour and a half we were playing. They couldn't get it out of their heads! Today's song, Titties, is from THE TRUCKS self titled debut released on Click Pop Records.

Why THE PUSH KINGS didn't become as famous as The Killers I will never know. They were great musicians, they wrote catchy songs, and they had terrific style. Between 1995 and 1999 they released a handful of singles, and two (almost) perfect indie pop albums. Their second 7" is one of my all-time favorite singles. Today's song, Macy Macy , is from that 7" released on Sealed Fate Records in 1996.

Jeff is wondering why we can't get our RSS feed to work. Does anyone have any ideas?

Are you a wizard, or a genius?

Hey, any web-geeks out there who can tell me why our press photos give error messages to some users but not others? I'm stumped. As an incentive to help out, Jeff promises to take you out for ice cream. Two scoops!!

MP3 of the Day

Even though JENS LEKMAN couldn't have been less interested in having his picture taken with me, today's song is the Rocky Dennis' Farewell Song. It was originally released on the Rocky Dennis EP in 2004, and rereleased (this past year) on the Oh You're So Silent Jens CD. Happy Friday!
