MP3 of the Day

Between 1989-93, one of my all-time favorite indie-pop bands WIMP FACTOR 14 released four 7" singles and one amazing album. Two years ago the band played a reunion show in Pittsburgh, PA., and put together a compilation CD that included all of their singles plus a few unreleased songs. The initial run sold out quickly, but there has been a second pressing! Today we have Botch, from this rarities CD titled, Bric-A-Brac. They are only $6! You can order your very own copy here. (note: I believe the free climbing monkeys may have sold-out with the first run)

In the new digital format you can really hear the rubber band/VHS case hi-hat with crystalline clarity!

I remember going up to gary to congratulate him on the "percussion" kit. i only had a minute or two because beat Happening was about to go on. He'd told me about a few ideas months earlier but i didn't believe he'd do it. I wish I'd seen the larger kit he built for the Wimps big tour, or did I? Microbrews had just hit pittsburgh at the time and everyone was drinking a lot, hard to get the facts straight.

I think I visited the 'botch' recording sessions once. it was in a skank house in one of the skankier neighborhoods - very cozy vibe! :) mastermind reeltoreel man Ed Umm (is he still the Warhol film archivist?) was only animated when talking about his latest boyfriend or the exploits of his chance-induced noiseart collective Telecorpse, otherwise it was fairly strict concentration in trying to get the best possible quality out the cheap rented mics and console. You may hear some of my foot stomping on 'Blue Moon of Kentucky'.
ok, that's enough from me. hi to all, i'm back to being whatever, here in SF. and Good luck Tullycraft, I missed you guys at the popfest back in the late 90s. Gary had me a little confused as to why he was playing sugary popmusic. But the older i get, the less I know, and also the more I act like everything is just peachy.
