I love your band! I like these covers too.
i saw the trachtenburg family slideshow players last week and they were awful. why have i read so much good stuff about them?
Why? a few reasons:
- little girls are cute
- the band's seattle-new york connection
- being 'awful' is somewhat cool
- retro multi-media
since when is being 'awful' is somewhat cool?
What do you mean by 'awful'? People used to pay ten bucks knowing that Cat Power might not feel like singing on a given night. I don't like Trachtenburg's either. Though they seem to "give the people what they want?" Why not just listen to the Kinks? I don't know.
This version of Miss Douglass County might grow on me, but it doesn't feel like a particularly inspired cover. It reminds me of that cover of Bizarre Love Triangle years ago that tried it unplugged and completely missed the point. Nevertheless, the song's still charming.
