TULLYCRAFT TUESDAY

Each Tuesday we feature a band (or artist) covering a Tullycraft song. When Ian Rickert isn't playing in his band Elf Power he moonlights as one half of FAIRMOUNT FAIR. Today we have their spaced-out cover of Skyway, from our very first 7". We also have the FAIRMOUNT FAIR song, It's Gone Bad which samples the Tullycraft song The Lives Of Cleopatra. This was recorded live on WUGA.

Perhaps it's less that this version of Skyway sucks as much as it is that the recording does. I bet the show itself was fun.

yeah, that version of skyway is horrible. too lo-fi "on purpose" and very annoying. also the "lives of cleopatra" sample isn't even a proper sample. they just stole the drumbeat! a respectable sample is when you can actually identify where it comes from, so it pays tribute to the original that you sampled from. if they added a small vocal track from the original like the "uh-huh" or whatever, it would've been cool. just the drumbeat borders on criminal. very lame.
