SPORTSGUITAR was a Swiss band with a lineup rotating around songwriter Oliver Obert and guitarist Roland Saum. Their second album, Married, 3 Kids, marked their Matador debut following their 1994 debut on Derivative (a Canadian label). Of that debut, Oliver said, "We wrote and sang all the songs in English 'cause Swiss German is no good for rock-y lyrics and German is as hard for us to speak as English. When we finished recording we thought it sounded as good as any of our favorite bands." Today's song, Very Weird is from their 2nd album, Married, 3 Kids.

Thanks to Sean for introducing a 7" of theirs back in the day. An Awesome show at the Crocodile around that time. Too bad they were playing the same night as us in Austin a few years later. i think Azalia Snail was also in town that night - good music city. Though being married w/ 3 kids living in Switzerland would be cooler.
i believe this band is sadly underrated.
