TULLYCRAFT TUESDAY
Rachel Sweet was a minor teen-pop sensation in the late 70's and early 80's. In 1978, at the age of 16 she signed a record deal with Stiff Records in England. After a major publicity push she had only produced one UK Top 40 hit. She was dropped from Stiff and signed a new contract with CBS/Columbia in the US. In 1981 her first CBS/Columbia album was released. Her duet with Rex Smith, a remake of Everlasting Love, was a US Top 40 hit, but the album failed to achieve the commercial success CBS/Columbia was hoping for. Rachel was eventually dropped from her 2nd label and her run as a "Teen Queen" was over. Many, Many years later I was reading about Rachel Sweet and I saw these photos. They seemed very awkward. To me it almost looked like it could have been a "Win A Date With Rachel Sweet Contest." With that in mind, I wrote the SIX CENTS AND NATALIE song My Date With Rachel Sweet. A couple years after that Marc Pattini and his band KISSWHISTLE recorded a cover of the song, and I honestly think that their version of My Date With Rachel Sweet is better than mine.

How come this song isn't on the "When Punk Fell To Earth" cd?
yeah!
its not on the other cd either
There are two Six Cents and Natalie CDs: Show Me The Honey and When Punk Fell To Earth.... and while they include a large number of the Six Cents and Natalie songs released, they do not include them all. This happens to be one of the ones that slipped through the cracks.
This is John who used to drum for Kisswhistle. I forgot how fucking amazing this song is Sean. Playing with you guys at that scary dive bar in West Virginia will always hold a special place in my heart.
