On this day in 1990, the television show Northern Exposure aired its first episode. It received a trial run by CBS as an eight-episode summer replacement series. It returned for seven more episodes in the spring of 1991. The offbeat show, about a Manhattan doctor forced to work in a small Alaska town called Cicely, consistently ranked in the Top 20 most-watched TV shows until it was canceled in 1995. Today we have the song Our Town by IRIS DEMENT. It appeared in the very last episode of Northern Exposure titled "Tranquility Base" in 1995.
