Has BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN been hanging out with Stephin Merritt? Either that, or Clarence Clemons has been spinning The Magnetic Fields on the tour bus. My friend Roshan sent me this new song by the Boss called Girls In Their Summer Clothes, and I was floored by how much it sounded like a Stephin Merritt song. This could have been on The Charm of the Highway Strip.

SW-I think he can get away with it because he didn't write a song about volvos or change the words of one of his songs to be about volvos. LIKE SOME PEOPLE. *cough*ofmontreal*cough*
He didn't even try to mainstream it. I mean, there's not a guitar and drums or mainstream-macho sounding music. It's a ukulele.
