MP3 of the Day

JENS LEKMAN is playing in Seattle tomorrow night. It's not well known, but Jens, Steve Thornton (aka Fnarf), Nancy Ostrander (Cher Doll Records), and I were briefly in a band together. This was back when Jens was still calling himself Rocky Dennis. Steve and Jens would argue for hours about midi-string sections. Steve thought Jens was using them too often. Eventually, the band broke-up. Today we have Jens Lekman’s Farewell Song To Rocky Dennis from the Rocky Dennis EP.

One time at band camp, I was toot toot tootin' my own horn and my trousers fell down around my ankles, that is when I saw the Sog Monster.

I can't believe that you would do this to me, Sean.

Everybody knows I *love* midi-synth. Why do you think every band I've ever been in sounds like Simple Minds?

You tell 'em fnarf!

Actually, every band I've ever been in sounds like Erasure. Tuning up.

We were called "Samba With Hitler".

How was Jens last night? It was sold out, I couldn't get in.

Jens was great! He had an all-girl backing band. He said to say "hello." How were you not on the guest list?

I dunno. It never occurred to me to ask. Why would I be on the guest list? It's OK, I've seen him before. I'm just excited he sold out.

Why would you be on the guest list? Are you and Jens still not talking?

Well not since "the incident." And then there's that restraining order, too.

Wow. Isn't this something you could have mentioned at the show? Any Samba With Hitler recordings around?

We recorded a double album -- forty-four tracks -- but I overwrote the masters to make more room on my hard drive for porn. I thought there was another copy. Jens is still mad about that -- and about the time I accidentally threw him out of an airplane over the Arctic Ocean.

I'm blaming my question on a momentary lapse of stupid-filter due to work related exhaustion.

You have a stupid-filter? Are there any more?
