Constance Frances Marie Ockleman was born on this day in 1919. In 1941, she began appearing in films under the name
Veronica Lake and was soon a major
Hollywood draw, frequently starring opposite
Alan Ladd in films like
This Gun for Hire (1942),
The Glass Key (1942), and
The Blue Dahlia (1946). Her career took a nosedive in the late 1940s. In the early 1950s she filed for bankruptcy, stopped acting and allegedly drank heavily. In the 1960s, a reporter discovered her working at a hotel bar in
New York. She died of hepatitis in 1973. Today we have the song
Piece Of Me by
BRITNEY SPEARS from her new album
Blackout.

sad wednesday post
If I ever get lost in the woods and I have two candy bars, I hope one is a Mars Bar and the other is a Baby Ruth. I would eat both of those right away and then I would run around until I was found or I would live with a pack of wolfs.
this Britney song is sorta catchy.
Shoulda used a Veronica Lake song.
Leave Veronica alone.
