MP3 of the Day
When the Sex Pistols cancelled, ELVIS COSTELLO and the ATTRACTIONS filled in as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on this day in 1977. Costello wanted to play "Radio Radio" on the program. Columbia Records, Costello's US label, on the other hand, was interested in having an already-established song performed on SNL, to stoke the fires of interest in the band prior to the American release of My Aim Is True and This Year's Model. On the live show, Costello began playing "Less than Zero." However, after a few bars, he turned to the Attractions, waving his hand and yelling "Stop! Stop!," then said to the audience, "I'm sorry, ladies and gentlemen, there's no reason to do this song here." He then led the band in a performance of "Radio Radio." Costello was banned from Saturday Night Live for twelve years. Today we have an early demo version of the song Radio, Radio.

I am in the belly of the beast and I am flying at you like a chariot out of hell. My fingers shoot fire and my eyes glow in the dark. I need more money to buy my drugs. Oh and I love ice cream all kinds of ice cream.
Is a Sex Pistol same as a Steely Dan?
I love demo versions like this - it's like hearing someone do a really amazing cover of a song you like, and you end up liking the cover more than the original, though in this case THIS is the original done by the real artist!
Thanks!
It really is cool to hear this version, nice post Sean!
