MP3 of the Day
The Whisky A Go Go opened in West Hollywood, California, on the Sunset Strip on this day in 1964. Arguably, the rock and roll scene in Los Angeles was born when the Whisky opened it's doors. From rock to punk to heavy metal, the club stood at the forefront of many musical trends. The Whisky played an important role in many musical careers, especially for bands based in Southern California. Many performers made one of their first performances in the area at the Whisky, including The Byrds, Alice Cooper, Buffalo Springfield, The Kinks, The Who, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Roxy Music, Oasis, The Runaways, X, Mötley Crüe, Van Halen, The Ramones,The Misfits, Blondie, Talking Heads, Elvis Costello, XTC, The Jam, Guns N' Roses, Metallica, and Nirvana. Today we have Looks That Kill by Mötley Crüe recorded live at the Whisky A Go Go.

The Whisky has a menu in keeping with its style. It has the Joan Jett Take-off drink, a Runaway best seller, the Cheap Trick Bun E. Burger and the Rodney Bingenheimer special is Tab.
Motley Crue were the heaviest drinking most oversexed and arrogant band in the world. They took every drug they could get their hands on and drank obscene amounts of alcohol. They nailed the hottest chicks, started the bloodiest fights, and partied with the biggest drug dealers. They left behind a trail of trashed hotel rooms, debauched women, and psychotic managers that has the music industry still cringing to this day.
Greg, somebody had to do it.
