For a girl who has fortunately long since vanished, I saw Axl play in Vegas as "Guns N' Roses" on New Year's Eve at the end of 2001. A fellow who went by the nom de guerre "Buckethead" played the Slash parts. His face was covered by a neutral mask and his head by a bucket from KFC. During his solos, the bucket rotated. I told the douchettes at the bar that I was a neurologist and then spilled my beer. Axl's voice was blown and he was plump. He promised that "Chinese Democracy" would be released in the coming year. My room at Circus Circus was saturated with the scent of bacon. That feeling was different from the feeling I get listening to Jens Lekman.

On December 14, 2006, Axl Rose posted on the GNR website. He announced the cancellation of the final four shows of the US tour. He claimed that those shows were taking up time the band needed to finish recording Chinese Democracy.
