The Fifth Element was released on this day in 1997. It was selected as the opening film for the 1997 Cannes Film Festival. The production design for the movie was developed by Jean Giraud (Moebius) and Jean-Claude Mézières and showed a strong influence of French comic storytelling. The costume design was created by French fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, who produced 954 costumes used in the film. The movie was written and directed by Luc Besson. Luc wrote this movie when he was 15! Corbin Dallas rules, just a futuristic version of John Mclain.
