MP3 of the Day

Explorer 1, the first Earth satellite of the United States, launched in response to the Soviet satellite Sputnik, ceased transmission on this day in 1958. The mercury batteries provided power for the high power transmitter for 31 days and the low-power transmitter for 105 days. When its batteries died, the satellite still remained in orbit for more than 12 years. It made a fiery reentry over the Pacific Ocean on March 31, 1970. Today we have The great divide by AEROSPACE from the Labrador 100 - A Complete History Of Popular Music compilation. Happy Friday!
