Disneyland opened on this day in 1955 in Anaheim, California. Opening ceremonies were led by Walt Disney. Disneyland holds the distinction of being the only theme park to be designed, built, opened, and operated by Walt Disney himself. Today we have the song Disney Time by JARVIS COCKER.

The 1995 No Doubt album Tragic Kingdom is a reference to Disneyland. A teenage Gwen Stefani confessed she wanted to work at Disneyland more than anything.
...and the opening day ceremonies did not go smoothly at all! Live TV errors, unfinished rides, and only time for the plumbers to install either the toilets or the drinking fountains. Walt wisely chose the toilets and everyone drank Coke!
