MP3 of the Day
On this day in 1981, the Scottish band, ALTERED IMAGES released their single Happy Birthday. The first 10,000 copies shipped with a free iron-on transfer. It was the band's biggest hit, reaching #2 on the UK singles chart. That same year they were voted "Best New Group" at the NME awards. "Happy Birthday" was introduced to a more widespread American audience when it was included on the soundtrack to the John Hughes' movie Sixteen Candles.

I love this song, but 'Teenage Suicide: Don't Do It' is the highlight off the "Sixteen Candles" soundtrack.
Isn't "Teenage Suicide: Don't Do It" from Heathers?
My birthday was yesterday.
Happy Birthday Jim!
Worth trying to get hold of a copy of "Sounds of the suburbs". It has Altered Images on it, along with Echo Beach by Martha and the Muffins, pretty in pink, Ever fallin in love with some one, another girl another planet and a whole stack of other great new wave tracks. Normally these comps are pretty crappy but have one track you want, this one is great. Think it is out of print but available on amazon marketplace and the like pretty cheap
I would run into oncoming traffic for Clare Grogan.
