It's
Moe Tucker'
s birthday today! She was born
Maureen Ann Tucker in Levittown, New York, and began playing the drums at age 19. She played standing up, rather than seated, using a simplified drum kit of tom toms, a snare drum and an upturned bass drum. She was asked to join the
Velvet Underground in 1965, by Velvets guitarist
Sterling Morrison. In 1971, Maureen quit the band and the music business all together to raise her family. In the 1980's, Moe started recording and touring again, releasing a number of albums on small, independent labels that featured her singing and playing guitar. She also made a few guest appearances on other band's records, including producing the 1993 album
Fire in the Sky for
Half Japanese. Today we have the song
This Could Be The Night by
HALF JAPANESE from the
Moe Tucker produced album
Fire in the Sky.

This is absolutely one of my all-time favorite Half Japanese songs. Thanks for playing it today, Mr. DJ!
This is actually my favorite Half Japanese song too!
Good choice and good clean fun for a 2 and 5 year old!
