MP3 of the Day
On this day in 1992, it was reported that Prince had signed a $100 million contract with Warner Bros., making him the highest-paid pop artist in the world. By 1993, he was feeling highly restricted by the terms of his contract. He changed his name from Prince to an unpronounceable glyph combining the symbol for male and female. For the next seven years, journalists referred to him as "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince." After Prince's Warner Bros. contract expired in 1996, he released an album called Emancipation. When his publishing contract with Warner-Chappell expired in 2000, he changed his name back to Prince. Today we have the song Housequake by PRINCE from the album Sign O The Times. Happy Friday!
