On this day in 1979, ADAM & THE ANTS released their debut album Dirk Wears White Sox on Do It Records. The album was recorded with the original lineup of Adam & the Ants, which disbanded after the album was released (the other members went on to form Bow Wow Wow). Dirk Wears White Sox featured a much more eclectic sound than Adam's later recordings. Many of the songs, including "Cleopatra" and "Never Trust a Man (With Egg on his Face)" remained a part of Adam Ant's live sets throughout his career, both with the Ants and later as a solo artist. Today we have the song Cleopatra by ADAM & THE ANTS recorded live at the BBC for John Peel on Oct 7th, 1978.
