MP3 of the Day

On this day in 1980, Young Marble Giants released their one (and only) album, Colossal Youth on Rough Trade Records. The album was recorded in three and half days at Foel Studios in North Wales. The band was able to record fast and inexpensively by keeping many of their first takes. It was a deliberate attempt to make the music feel 'alive'. Kurt Cobain said in a 1992 Melody Maker interview that Colossal Youth was one of his five most influential records. In 1992, Young Marble Giants guitarist Stuart Moxham co-produced the Beat Happening album You Turn Me On. Today we have the song Brand New Life by YOUNG MARBLE GIANTS from the album Colossal Youth.

This killed my blues in a minute flat.

Signed,

This inspired me to play the blues in two minutes flat.

Signed,
The evil that lurks in the hearts of men
