On this day in 1984, R.E.M. released their second album, Reckoning on I.R.S. Records. The album was recorded at Reflection Sound Studio in Charlotte, North Carolina over a 16 day period in December 1983 and January 1984. It was produced by Mitch Easter and Don Dixon who intended to capture the sound of the band's live shows. It took seven years, but the album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America in 1991. Today we have the song Harborcoat by R.E.M. from the album Reckoning.
