MP3 of the Day

On this day in 1981, The Cure released their third album, Faith. The album is often seen as the mid-point in a 'Dark Trilogy' that began with the band's second album, Seventeen Seconds and ended with their fourth album, Pornography. The first single off Faith was the song "Primary." Today we have the song Descent - it was the b-side of the Primary 7". Not one of The Cure's best b-sides (if you ask me), but still a rarity.

Faith is by far the best Cure record. By a MILE. None of the electronic cheese of Pornography but more somber than Seventeen Seconds - and of course zero percent of that poppy stuff that came along with Head On The Door and everything after.

If I ever decide to kill myself and my copy of the first Reservoir record isn't available, I'm going to put Faith on the turntable.

Well, either that or Old Traditions, New Standards.
