On this day in 1982, Siouxsie Sioux (of Siouxsie and the Banshees) appeared topless on the cover of NME. The stunt would be imitated by P.J. Harvey (in 1992) and Beth Ditto (in 2007). Each of these NME covers received enormous press exposure. Today we have Siouxsie and band-mate Steven Severin explaining the inspiration for the song Christine by SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES.
