MP3 of the Day

On this day in 1979, Joy Division released their debut album, Unknown Pleasures. They recorded the album at Strawberry Studios with producer Martin Hannett. Initially, the band disliked the sound of the album, which did not reflect their more aggressive live sound. Bassist, Peter Hook said in a 2006 interview: "It definitely didn't turn out sounding the way I wanted it.... But now I can see that Martin did a good job on it.... There's no two ways about it, Martin Hannett created the Joy Division sound." Today we have a demo version of the song Interzone by JOY DIVISION.
