MP3 of the Day

On this day in 1982, the Go-Go's released the first commercial cassette single (aka "cassingle") with the song "Vacation" b/w "Beatnik Beach" on I.R.S. Records. I.R.S. trademarked the "cassingle" name in 1982. Initially, the recording industry resisted the format, but it was finally introduced on a wide scale in 1987, as vinyl 45 sales were declining. Today we have the song Vacationland by THE GAZETTEERS.

I literally just listened to this song 5 minutes before looking at this post. Was working on a summer mix and couldn't figure out if it was happy or sad...
