MP3 of the Day

On this day in 1965, the Rolling Stones single, "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" reached #1 on the Billboard singles chart. The band had been releasing singles since 1963, but this was their first #1 hit in the United States. Today we have the song You Can't Change That Boy by WAKE THE PRESIDENT. Happy Friday!

On June 5, 1965, The Rolling Stones played to about 3,000 people at Jack Russell Stadium in Clearwater, Florida while on their third US tour. That night, Keith Richards woke up in his hotel room with the guitar riff and lyric "Can't get no satisfaction" in his head. He recorded it on a portable tape deck, went back to sleep, and brought it to the studio that week. The tape contained his guitar riff followed by the sounds of him snoring.

A week later, The Rolling Stones first recorded the track on a week later at Chess Studios in Chicago. The song was re-recorded two days later at RCA Studios in Hollywood.
Two months later, the song reached number one in the US.
