On this day in 1959, after a 33 hour flight, radio signals from the Soviet space probe Luna 2 abruptly ceased, and it crashed onto the surface of the Moon. The probe became the first man-made object to ever reach the Moon. Today we have the song, Hit the Ground by The DARLING BUDS.
