On this day in 1988, Nirvana opened for Coffin Break and Skin Yard at a small club in Bellingham, WA called Speedy O'Tubbs. I was told that there weren't very many people in the audience (less than 25). Despite playing a lot of shows throughout the Northwest over the next few years, Nirvana never played another officially announced show in Bellingham. They did appear as an unannounced opening act for Mudhoney at Western Washington University (in Bellingham) in 1992. This appearance was a surprise to all in attendance.

Any future rock gods in attendance, an Eddie Vedder or Ben Gibbard?

No chance Eddie Vedder was there. He isn't from Washington. He moved there with all of the other lemmings when the music scene started heating up.

I wasn't there but I remember going to see some great shows at Speedy's. I remember seeing Black Happy, Gruntruck, The Sweaty Nipples, Sweetwater, Jumbalassy and Inflatable Soule to name a few. Thanks for the memories.

I was at the show. I was friends with the drummer of skin yard at the time. I was also the drummer of Jumbalassy at the time. I seem to recall the sweater and that he had an elastic guitar strap
