On this day in 1968, NBC aired an Elvis Presley Television Special. The program has commonly been referred to as the '68 Comeback Special. After coming home from the Army, Elvis recorded a number of hits, but only performed three concerts in 1961. It wasn't until this 1968 television special that the public saw Elvis perform live again.
